This huge solid wood bookcase was in need of a modern makeover.  Whilst it had nothing wrong with it; it didn’t match my customer’s décor.  This is an excellent example of where upcycling is a better alternative to buying new furniture.  This piece was stripped of its orange varnish, right down to the bare wood.  Several layers of an Ebony Oil Stain were then applied.  Once dry, the final coat was buffed and polished for a subtle sheen.  Stain is a great alternative to paint if you want to accentuate the wood grain – and it suited this piece perfectly.  Lastly – for an added touch of sophistication – the interior has been decoupaged with a peacock print and gold leaf detail added to the edges of the shelves.
